Michael Dailey
Michael Dailey is a tenor whose voice was described by Opera News as being, "blessed with freshness."
He is currently a member of Opera San Jose's resident company of principal artists having performed the
roles of Des Griuex in Massanet's Manon, Don Ramiro in Rossini's La Cenerentola, Lensky in
Tchaikovskys Eugene Onegin, Nemorino in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore, Ferrando in Mozart's Cosi
fan tutte and Don Jose in Bizet's Carmen. Mr. Dailey recently returned from Vienna where he performed
the roles of Lucano/1st Soldat/Famigliare in Montiverdi's L'Incoronazione di Poppea with the prestigious
Theater an der Wien. His other performances have included Rodolfo in Puccini's La boheme with
Portland Opera to Go as well as a European tour of 6 countries as Sportin' Life in Gershwin's Porgy & Bess
with the New York Harlem Production company. For Tri-Cities Opera, he has performed the roles of
Romeo in Gounod's Romeo et Juliette and Camille in Lehar's The Merry Widow; a role he has also
performed for the Ash-Lawn Opera Festival. With Virginia Opera, Mr. Dailey has performed the roles
of Don Basilio in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Benvolio in Romeo et Juliette, and Melot in Wagner's
Tristan und Isolde. His upcoming operatic appearances include Prunier in Puccini's La Rondine,
Konstantin Levin in the West Coast Premier of David Carlson's Anna Karenina, Count Almaviva in
Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia and Rodolfo for Opera San Jose.
